None of us is good enough that we do not need God’s mercy.
And, yet, we are too quick to think of mercy being given only to hardened criminals who have no hope of redemption, while deeming ourselves better than such individuals, even refusing to believe that we could ever sink to the depths which those criminals did.
And, yet, in that very refusal, that obstinancy, we are unwittingly acknowledging that there is a moral standard of righteousness one needs to be held accountable to. And this standard, this oughtiness, is found throughout the earth, and throughout the centuries, leading to the very plausible conclusion that such a moral standard must have come from outside of man’s thought, given to us by God Himself
And God’s standard to be his child and to be accepted into Heaven is perfection. Not our assessment of what is right.
God loves us, friend. Let’s cry out for His mercy today
