Good Morning. Today let’s focus our attention on prayer. Specifically, look at Matthew 26:41, which reads:
Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Within a few short hours, the disciples would be scattering from their Lord as the authorities arrested Jesus. Their desire to be with Jesus in His hour of need were undermined by their good intentions.
Now, prayer is hard work, and we need to be mindful, vigilant, of what is happening around us as we pray because good intentions will rob us if we don’t care for our blind spots.
While we can not stop temptations from luring us away from the Lord, we can throw up a road block to their siren type of calls by watching and praying.
To think that you would never be lured away from following Jesus, already indicates that you are succumbing to the temptation of false assurance.
Recognizing our human frailty coupled with our desperate need for God Almighty will hold each one of us in good stead to be watchful and praying.
