Psalm 37:17
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord sustains the righteous.
Again, as in the verse, we see the great contrast between the wicked and the righteous.
In my High School days, though, I did not see this type of contrast. Rather, I saw three camps of people: the wicked, the righteous, as indicated here. But, also, good common folk that were not in that righteous and fanatically crazed for Jesus group.
How wrong I was, and how merciful and gracious God was to me to show me my foolishness.
Now, while the Psalmist paints this contrast between the wicked and the righteous, it is definitely clear that whatever the wicked has in this life pales to minuscule proportions in light of God’s sustenance for the righteous.
And, yet, one too many people who are Christian don’t see this. Rather, they see that God is not coming through for them in some crucial life situations.
In closing, then, let me urge you, friend, to allow God to sharpen your focus on His word in order to note this great contrast between the wicked and the righteous , instead of using your situations to derive how you think that God should be providing for you.
