You were taught to change the way you were living. The person you used to be will ruin you through desires that deceive you.
Now, that person we used to be is still the person whom we need to contend with on a daily basis. We will never be immune to those sinful desires, but now that we have been made alive in Christ by grace (Eph 2:5), we have all whom we need to live above those deceptive desires
Those desires lure us by any means away from God. They subtly mask themselves as noble endeavors to pursue but they are baited with a poison which imperceptibly dulls our senses to the things of God and will ultimately leave us as walking dead.
But, Dear Friends, the Salvation that God birthed in us by grace through faith is two fold. Not only does it prepare us for Heaven, it, also, shows how how to live above those desires that seek to ruin our lives
