Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;
Just imagine for a moment if no one obeyed anyone.
For instance: You go to a lecture to learn and the rest of the audience is being exceedingly disruptive, not caring to listen to the speaker.
or, let’s say you have some life saving information to give to others, but they want to spurn your advice.
Yet, it is not uncommon to NOT see the bigger picture from not obeying; rather, people will rationalize why they disobeyed.
This Scripture, though, makes us aware of the higher calling in obedience, namely it is in our accountability before God Himself. Wouldn’t that cause one to become more soberly minded in obeying those in authority over us?
