In my distress I called to the Lord; he answered me and set me free. The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid; what can anyone do to me?
Did you know that history points to Jesus singing this psalm at the last supper?
Don’t let the significance of this escape you, my friend:
Namely, He proclaimed “WHAT CAN ANYONE DO TO ME!” shortly before He KNEW He would be crucified.
We, thus, would be hard pressed to understand this Scripture as a guarantee from physical suffering.
We can also look at the lives of Joseph being tossed into prison by his brothers, King David being hunted down by Saul, and Paul being stoned we better understand that suffering is part and partial of one’s faith walk.
So…the significance of this verse is that while our bodies may endure many hardships, we are assured that He will keep our spirits strong as call out to the Lord from our problems!
So, in closing let me as you this question:
What do you need to do to experience His freedom during your times of distress?
Blessings on your Journey
