(just an fyi:  I caught an error in the audio in that the Scripture is 2 Peter 3:9 (not 2 Peter 3:8)

Change Ahead Sign

Let’s briefly look at God’s promises…but through the lens of repentance.   Namely, I want us to consider that the purposes of his promises are not aimed to make our life easier, but to, O HELP US LIVE THAT ABUNDANT LIFE THAT JESUS TALKS ABOUT.

My Scripture today is 2 Peter 3:9:

The Lord is not slow about His promise,

as some count slowness,

but is patient toward you,

not wishing for any to perish

but for all to come to repentance.

I am up to a challenge, too. So, if you want to tag me in church or respond to this blog post here regarding anything you find any promise that does not tie into our repentance, just let me know. OK?

This, though, greatly challenges some who become easily disappointed when one of God’s promises are not fulfilled in the manner they sincerely believe is right.

Now…here is the deal: this word ‘repentance’ means ‘a change of mind’. Thus the picture of the road sign! (For, indeed, there IS ‘change ahead’ for that individual who comes to that place of repentance!)

So might this ‘change of mind’ be God’s work in us to show us that His purpose in our life is far greater than what we could even imagine, and that his promises are all designed to mold us to be more Christ like?

Let me encourage you with these final words: when your expectations are not met, consider how God is showing you that He has something better.
