Below is the transcript of my radio sermonette. (Here is the link to listen to the audio.)
Good morning, this is Michael and today we will be reading Proverbs 4:23 from the Good News Translation:
Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.
Here we are being warned and motivated to diligently watch over our thought life because our current lifestyles are intimately connected to our perspectives.
Two examples might help us grasp the importance of this. I call them the bookends to radical thinking.
The first is Kara Tippets, a young mother battling breast cancer. Though her body is failing rapidly these days, she readily continues to proclaim her faith in God and grasps that her suffering is a place where true beauty can be known.
The second, lady, Brittay Maynard, also battled with cancer and decided late last year to end her life because she saw no value in suffering.
Both ladies in the arms of death, yet their beliefs about life lead them to two different conclusions.
My dear friends, while no one can make us monitor the way we think, we will reap the lifestyle that our thoughts directed us towards.
When we understand that God’s precepts are based on His foundation of grace and mercy in love towards us, we will be more inclined to pay attention to our thought life.
Blessings on your journey
