Good morning, this is Michael De Rosa, and today I want to look at Mark 1:17-18, which reads
17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
Mark’s gospel is fast paced, stressing the quick and focused movements of the gospel story.
And that urgency is just as crucial for us as it was for those disciples: after they heard Jesus call them, they immediately left their nets; and, after we hear Jesus’ call, we likewise need to respond quickly in following him by leaving behind the way we use to engage in familiar activities
Now, don’t underestimate the need to quickly align yourself to the Master’s call. Don’t presume that a verbal response of ‘yes’ to following Him is the only thing that is needed for a life of faith. For faith without action is dead.
My friend, while we are only saved by faith, Christ never intended for us to be couch potatoes.
So, let’s use our time wisely, and be quick to heed His call.
