I want to talk with you about Questioning Experience. My text is Matthew 4:4:
Matthew 4:4 pictureBut He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

I was taken back this week when I heard, again, of people looking towards Experience as being more substantial than God’s word. While their times together may include portions of God’s word in song and preaching, the underlying tenets of their connection to spiritual matters is experience.
Unless we live by every word that comes from the mouth of God, namely, His word, we stand on shaky ground.
I strongly suggest that if you find yourself in a church that is not preaching the entire word of God, you start questioning the authority you are under.
If you are in a church that is only making you feel good, and not exposing painful areas in your life that need healing, I suggest that you question if that church is living on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
Remember the warning God leaves us with:

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
