Good Morning, this is Michael De Rosa and today I want to talk with you about rest. My text will Genesis 2:1-3
2 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Basically, the Biblical text tells us that God stepped back from His activity. While our society has identified this type of rest as that of a couch potato, God’s word declares something different, namely a time that we can thoroughly enjoy God and delight in His goodness
While the rat race will always beckon us to keep up with society’s norms, we, as Christians, know of God’s mandate to keep the Sabbath.
And if keeping the Sabbath frustrates you, may I suggest that you see this as a sign that you just might be doing way too much.
Let’s help one another to enjoy this Day as God intended
Blessings on your journey
-Michael
