This text is part of the story of the prodigal son, whom had demanded from His father, his rightful inheritance. We are told that only AFTER the Prodigal Son hit rock bottom that he came to his senses. Up to that time, as you may recall, he was squandering his inheritance.
Now remember: It was not his hitting rock bottom that brought him to his senses. Rather, it was the realization he was not able to help himself be liberated from the snare of misfortune he found himself in.
We all are like the prodigal, in that, we will remain content with the way we want to live until we run out of our own street smarts and realize that the very resources we have been using right along came have come from Our Heavenly Father, who is only waiting for us to run back into his arms of mercy and grace in order to bring us His peace as we go through each day
So, while your struggles may be different than the prodigal’s, how might a wake up call be a gracious head’s up in your situation
