Yesterday, for the 16th year -I believe- Faith Fest has graced the Commons at Newport, NH.
The music was awesome, the kids seemed to enjoy themselves, and some folks stopped into the prayer tent. All yeah’s!
But, as I was strolling around the Commons, interacting with others, I came across one man who reflected upon a Faith Fest from a while back: It doesn’t seem like we are getting the crowds of people that we once had. I thought about that and repliedME: What do you think the reason might be?
Man: Kid’s aren’t being raised right. Too much internet
ME: God, though, hasn’t changed right?
Man: Yeah.
ME: I wonder, though, if the reason goes beyond the Internet. I wonder if the church, herself might be part of the reason.
As I said that, I was thinking of 2 Chronicles 7:14:
and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The church –that is ‘MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME’. What have we done, what are we doing to share the Gospel with each person we meet?
How would you have responded to that man?
Blessings on your journey,
-Michael
