Christian MaturityThis week we tackled Joshua 8, which Pastor Mike preached on the previous week.  Here are the slides along with comments.

Reading about Joshua leading Israel is not for the faint of heart! Sure we know that ‘good guys’ win in the end, but there are a lot of hard lessons that were learned, and, which we are learning today.  Ouch!

The huge picture here is that God is gracious towards us as we mature in Christ!  Otherwise, we would be looking over our shoulders, per se, at each time that we err, waiting for ‘God to get us’.

Pastor Mike reminded us that the phrase ‘DO NOT FEAR’ is one of the most often used comments in the Scripture.  Knowing this, makes me think that I really can relate to those Bible men and women because there are a lot of times when I tend to do the same thing!  (What about you?)

The good news for Joshua and Israel is the same for us:  there is a God who, though he is gracious towards our shortcomings, He will not tolerate sin, but seeks to purify us as we confess those sins so that we can move forward to take the Promised Land.

So, think about your own Promised Land, namely, that place and those people whom God is calling you towards.

Being a disciple takes courage, but God has supplied all that we need to honor Him each day of our lives.

Blessings on your journey

-Michael
