Today we are looking at physical health. My text is 1 Corinthians 9:27
I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.
Don’t discount the importance of bodily discipline.
We can not work God’s call for us if our moods are negative due to eating poorly the night before, or if have stomach aches due to overindulgence, or if we are unable to be go where God desires due to becoming immobile from lack of exercise
Unless we become more mindful that our bodies are the very vehicles through which God lives and works, we are shutting the doors to one too many opportunities to be His ambassador.
Now we must heed the word “missing out” in our text. In the original language this word refers to the test of metals that are found worthless. That is NOT good my friends by any standard.
Discipline is hard and it is time consuming. Yet, without regard for our bodily health we are unwittingly cheapening God’s grace in our lives.
How well are you caring for what God has given to you?
