Did God Really say THAT?

imagesThe other day, at church, Pastor Mike exhorted us towards discovering and using the gifts that God has given us. And this made me think of a previous article I wrote AND promise I made to you.

Knowing about the His gifts -and even what your gifts are- is not the same as sensing fulfillment and peace in actually using them.  Over the years, I have seen too wide a chasm between this:  the intellectual assent of one’s giftedness and his actual follow-through in exercising that/those gifts, which brings me to the subject matter today: (more…)

1 Step to Having a Successful Devotional Time

http://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photos-time-prayer-image27164243Let’s be honest.  There are some people who consider ‘having a devotional time’ a bit less painful than having a tooth extracted. Not that they want it this way, but every time they hear that question, ‘how is your devotional time?’, the response is less than lackluster.

In fact, statistics indicate that 35% of Christians read the Bible on a regular basis.  I find that so ironic, given that God has daily wisdom for us to meet all our needs, and we don’t ask Him?

While Christians understand the reasons for devotional time, there is a lot of floundering on how to do it, when to do it, and what to do.  Books have been written about this very concern, but, alas, some individuals still struggle.
