Today I want us to look at Luke 10:41-42
But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
While we sing about peace on earth during this Holy Season, some of us just would do well to purchase a pair of roller skates in order to get to all their Christmas Parties and Holiday gatherings in a timely manner.
And in the midst of that hustle and bustle of activity, it is not uncommon to hear people longing for some actual rest.
So, hopefully, we can de-stress these times for you simply by contemplating on Jesus’s words “only one thing is necessary.”
And what might that mean, except to make Jesus your audience of one…regardless.
The other day, I took my grandchildren to see Santa Claus and my 3 year old Harvey was simply awestruck when he saw Santa, and over joyed when Santa waved at him.
What I learned from Harvey is this:
In order for us to not be overwhelmed with busyness, a good place to start…and stay is to be awestruck with Jesus
